JOB TITLE: Bi-Lingual Family Support Worker
CONTRACT / HOURS: Fixed Term 12 months / 20 hours per week over 4 days
SALARY: £23k per annum pro rota
LOCATION: Blackburn, Lancashire
ACCOUNTABLE TO: CEO

The organisation is seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker to provide high-quality, safe and culturally sensitive support to vulnerable BME women and children in crisis, delivering practical and emotional guidance, safety planning, welfare support and housing management within a supportive refuge environment.

Key Responsibilities

Needs Assessment: Identifying family needs and developing support plans.
Direct Support: Provide person-centred emotional, practical, and social support, prioritising the safety of service users and their children, maintaining accurate records, and supporting individuals from refuge accommodation through to independent living.
Administration: Collate and complete all administrative data as required, record statistical information ensuring accurate records are maintained while observing confidentiality.
Liaison: Working with keyworkers, schools, health, social care, and other professionals or agencies.
Advocacy: Empowering women to find their own solutions and access resources and be committed to providing support focused on the needs of survivors.
Skill Building: Helping young people and mothers develop life skills and independence. Preparing and delivering informal and /or holistic teaching sessions as required.
Crisis Management: Remaining calm and supportive in stressful situations.
Requirements: A caring nature, with ability to be approachable and sensitive while maintaining a professional attitude. Good verbal and written communication and IT skills. Experience in care/social work and qualifications in health/social care/education are a plus. English and Urdu language competency. Driving license.
