Maira Butt is Chair of Humraaz. She has worked in the third sector with women for the majority of her career. She completed her Law degree at the LSE and her BPS accredited Masters in Psychology of Education at the University of Manchester. She is currently Coaching Lead at Lancashire Mind leading multiple projects for disadvantaged communities funded by the ESF and National Lottery. She has a particular passion for supporting young working-class Pakistani communities in the UK and an interest in the rights of migrant people, asylum seekers, and those with NRPF. She believes we benefit from the disadvantages imposed on men and women in the Global South and it is our duty to use our relative privilege and platform to raise awareness of and rectify this disparity. She has a passion for writing and has been featured in Tiny Buddha, Thought Catalog, and British Muslims TV. She was selected to be on Harper Collin’s first-ever Author Academy for BME writers in 2021. She is an award-winning salesperson and nominated Enterprising Woman of the Year at the 2019 Hyndburn Business Awards.
